Phone numbers

People write Mexican numbers in a lot of ways. These functions turn all of them into one.

Try it
Phone number+52 1 773 152 1627Valid
National
773 152 1627
International
+52 773 152 1627
E.164
+527731521627

Normalize

import { normalizePhone } from "mexico-utils";

normalizePhone("773 152 1627");        // "+527731521627"
normalizePhone("+52 1 773 152 1627");  // "+527731521627"
normalizePhone("045 55 1234 5678");    // "+525512345678"
normalizePhone("01 (773) 152-1627");   // "+527731521627"
normalizePhone("152 1627");            // null

It understands +52 and 0052, the old +521 that mobiles used to need, and the old 01, 044 and 045 prefixes. The result is E.164, ready to store or to send to Twilio or WhatsApp.

Format

import { formatPhone } from "mexico-utils";

formatPhone("5512345678");  // "55 1234 5678"
formatPhone("7731521627");  // "773 152 1627"
formatPhone("7731521627", { international: true }); // "+52 773 152 1627"

Mexico City (55, 56), Guadalajara (33) and Monterrey (81) have two-digit area codes. Everywhere else has three.
